Most businesses don't upgrade before a minor.

It's been everything but officially confirmed in various places. I asked the same question in other circles because I too prefer it over other DE's. Short answer: Plasma will come to RHEL/CentOS 8, it's almost a given. Requirements are: stability, low update, at least 3 years before EOL, KDE, not rolling. Other possible candidates are: Slackware 14.2, debian 10, opensuse leap. I don't like its release cycle and I don't like to be forced to update every 6/12 months. If not I need a new distro for my workstation and play centos on vm and I would like to use another rh family distro.I tried fedora 30 but I don't like it for different reason:

Epel will support kde5/plasma release? Other repo will support it? I don't know if it will be present in epel-testing. Some days ago I ridden about epel8 was released but I can't find any packages for kde5. I can stay on c7 until 2024 but things are becoming really old. I use centos 7 on my workstation and several server.Ĭentos 8 will released soon and due to the fact that rhel 8 did not ship kde anymore I'm trying to find a solution.
